Baguio City’s Camp John Hay reopens to residents

Baguio’s Camp John Hay is reopening for city residents on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, after more than three months of closure following health protocols due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The John Hay Management Corporation approved the reopening of select areas in the Baguio City tourist destination four times a week for the leisure activities of locals.

Baguio City Public Information Office announced on June 27 the following schedule for Camp John Hay:

  • 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
  • senior citizens and ages below 21 every Sunday

The following Camp John Hay areas are accessible beginning Tuesday:

  • CJH Manor children’s playground
  • Ayala open field
  • Yellow and Eco-Trail for strolling/walking
  • The main road may be used for jogging but not for biking
  • Food outlets at Ayala Techno Hub are open 6 a.m. – 7 p.m
  • Parking areas at CAP Center, Filling Station, and Mile Hi Center

To enter the facility, wellness passes can be secured at the SEZAD Office near IHG.

Visitors are reminded to wear their face masks at all times and observe social distancing. Food may not be brought in but drinking water is allowed inside.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong earlier said the city may be open to tourists by September.

Another famous tourist spot in Baguio, the Good Shepherd Mountain Maid souvenir store, had also reopened and delivers to Metro Manila.

Tourist spots in the Philippines were closed in mid-March amid the community quarantine following the coronavirus outbreak. The Department of Tourism had issued guidelines on the reopening of facilities to ensure the health safety of visitors and workers.
